Junior Football Championship (Round 4)

St Josephs 0-06 Bunbrosna 1-11

Our first championship encounter with Bunbrosna in fifteen years ended in an eight point defeat on Saturday 18th September at Bunbrosna as the home side showed too much craft and cuteness against us. Suffice to say, it was disappointing to lose out as hopes were high going into the game but results went our direction and we ended the weekend in third place in the table which is the same as where we started the weekend. Little separated the sides in the opening stages and indeed we were the livelier team with points being swapped inside the opening minutes. St Josephs had goal opportunities which we failed to take in the first quarter trailing by 0-2 to 0-3 as the game hit 12 minutes in the opening half. Bunbrosna struck for what was the games only goal after 14 minutes and added a point before the water break to lead by 1-4 to 0-2. St Josephs couldn’t make any headway in the second quarter and three further points for Bun stretched their lead at half time to 1-7 to 0-2. Try as we might in the second half, nothing really worked to unlock a resolute Bunbrosna defence and both sides traded four points each as the half time margin remained the margin at the end. Next up will be Ballycomoyle in two weeks time in our final group game.
