Division 5 League

St Josephs 3-07

St Marys Rochfortbridge 0-09

Two games in and two wins so a good start to the playing season for our Junior Mens team after a useful win over St Marys in Rochfortbridge this Friday evening. Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde in the 1880’s and our performance was a bit like that today as we could not get going in the opening half. Behind by 0-6 to 0-0 at half time, we were playing quite well but just could not click into gear at all. A good start to the second half saw Padraic Moran & Niall Moran clip over five points in the first ten minutes to bring us well into the game. Dean Slevin was unlucky not to fire in a goal in the 10th minute but it soon came with Aaron Mc Donnell firing home a great three pointer to put us 1-5 to 0-7 ahead. We never looked back as Andy Scally’s clever flick soon had us 2-6 to 0-7 in front. Ross Elliffe grabbed our third goal ten minutes from time and though St Marys did score the final two points in the game, we deserved the win on the basis of a storming second half display. Dr Jekyll in the first half but definitely Mr Hyde in the second!! Well done lads and great to see much better numbers now at training and games. Keep it going!
