St Josephs hosted Castledaly in our first league game for 2020 on Tuesday 21 July. In what was expected to be a tightly contested fixture, the opposite was the case as we proved far too strong for our opponents winning by a thirty point margin on a scoreline 0f 9-12 to 0-09. We got the ideal start with goals in the first, third and 10th minutes to lead by 3-3 before Castledaly got their opening score after 11 minutes. Truth be told, it was all one way traffic as three further goals in the opening half saw us ahead by a massive 6-10 to 0-3 by half time. The second half did even out as our shell shocked opponents did improve and we became a bit lax in the third quarter but three further goals in the final ten minutes saw St Josephs gain the two league points on offer in what was a suprisingly easy and lob sided win. Having had two narrow losses in recent challenge games, it was great to get a win and this result will be a huge confidence booster. Saying that, our championship opponents Tubberclair will be a much harder hurdle to try and cross but this result will help matters greatly!
